Constitution

Name The Group shall be called Surrey Fungus Study Group.

Aims  The Aims of the Surrey Fungus Study Group shall be to:

Study the mycota of Surrey (v.c. 17), by documenting and otherwise investigating the fungi of the county, including historical
data, and herbarium specimens.

Encourage an interest in and understanding of the importance of fungi in the environment.

Develop a greater knowledge of fungi through taxonomic studies, field excursions, and workshops open to members of the group.

Promote the conservation of fungi.

Membership  Membership shall be open to all individuals who support the aims of the group.

Executive Committee  The officers of the group shall be a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer, together with such other members as elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Meetings   An AGM shall be held in January each year to receive an annual report and accounts of the previous year, and to elect officers. Voting shall be by a simple majority of members present.

Finance   All money received shall be devoted to the aims of the group and shall be paid into a bank in the name of The Surrey Fungus Study Group. The treasurer shall keep an account of all income and expenditure and provide a report for each meeting and a financial statement to the AGM. All transactions shall be made by the treasurer or by another officer nominated by him / her, or by both. The accounts shall be audited by a competent person.

Dissolution  In the event of the group being dissolved any remaining funds will be distributed, at the discretion of the committee, to benefit groups with similar aims operating in London and South East.

Amendment to the Constitution   The Constitution may be altered as and when necessary at any AGM. Members must be notified of any proposed changes at least 14 days in advance.
